CMiC Advances as Best Tech Workplace for Diversity Finalist in Toronto’s 2018 Timmy Awards

Toronto, September 17, 2018 – Tech in Motion Toronto has chosen CMiC as a finalist for this year’s Best Tech Workplace for Diversity category in the 3rd Annual Timmy Awards. The award, which recognizes the top workplaces for tech professionals in the Toronto area, recognizes companies with diverse hiring practices and who celebrate differences to produce an innovative product. CMiC joins an elite list of finalists, which the public can vote for here.

CMiC credits diversity as a key to their success. By actively participating in global hiring practices, CMiC leverages Canada’s growing pool of highly skilled immigrants to fuel the company’s ‘innovation engine.’ CMiC is also making strides in achieving gender parity by actively preparing and promoting women into leadership roles. Unlike many other technology companies, CMiC has two women on its board of directors.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our diversity—a characteristic of our workforce that has been ingrained into the culture and identity of CMiC from the day we were founded over four decades ago,” says Gord Rawlins, President & CEO at CMiC. “The studies continually prove that diverse teams perform better and are more innovative. CMiC is proof that it not only works internally, but it is an important factor in our sustained top line growth and bottom line performance.”

Toronto’s local community has a chance to get involved by voting online now through October 3rd to help determine which company will be crowned the best in tech. Winners will be chosen by a panel of expert judges and communal votes. The complete list of Toronto’s 2018 Timmy Awards finalists can be found here. The four award categories include: Best Tech Startup, Best Tech Manager, Best Tech Work Culture and Best Tech Workplace for Diversity.

“As the event series grows each year, we are excited to celebrate the diversity, innovation and growth in the community – which we recognize is represented by these finalists whether or not they walk home with an award,” says Mandy Walker, Director of Marketing at Motion Recruitment, creator of Tech in Motion. “Having such inspirational finalists in the running makes the Timmy Awards exciting every year.”

Toronto’s 2018 Timmy Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at Revival Bar (783 College St.) from 6-9pm. This free event is open to the public and will consist of tech demos, entertainment and networking. The ceremony will also feature presentations from Toronto top tech leaders.
